for people aiming to take time out and make
sure you check their credentials.
Talk to the admissions
people at the place you want to study. That
way you'll know for sure if they are happy
for you to defer.
Take a trip to
your first and second university choices.
Talk to other students and lecturers who have
been there and done that to get ideas on what
might be best for you.
Get guidance from
your personal tutor/a tutor you can trust
to ensure you are doing the deferment process
by the book.
If you don't want
to apply until after you know your results
make sure you stay in contact with your college.
Choose someone who you know will be happy
to send you the UCAS forms, even if you are
based in little-known-town, Remotesville.
Got any big brothers
of sisters? Talk to their mates to see if
they have done the same thing.
Don't leave it
to chance, taking a break from study can take
more time to plan than going straight to university.
Don't panic. Trust
us, you are going to have fun!
